Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say initial examinations show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.
An important official commented the attack made him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
